Ears To It

About 7 weeks ago the girls got their ears pierced!!  This is something they have wanted to do for a while, but fear has kept them from it.  We met a little girl at the pool who had just had hers done and said it wasn’t a big deal and hardly hurt at all.  That completely convinced Clara and she was determined to do it.  Lucy was not about to be shown up by her younger sister, so she wanted it done too.  I knew better than to say “tomorrow will be the day” as Lucy, if not both of them, would have been up all night in worry and would have made herself sick.  So, we had gone to a Build and Grow at Lowes and afterwards had some time to waste before meeting Daddy for lunch---so it seemed like the perfect time!!

We went to Claire's in the mall  (doesn’t everyone get their ears pierced at Claire's??!!)  I was in sticker shock a bit as I had NO idea it was so darn expensive!!  There was no backing out now though!

Clara went first (and apparently I didn’t get any pictures of Lucy at all---how awful!!)  Clara was so excited afterwards and was bouncing around and I was still filling out the gobs of paperwork and fielding calls on  my cell phone and I barely even got to see Lucy get hers done myself.

They have that bear for the kids to hang on to, and it was given a good huggin’ that day for sure.  The picture above is right before.  Clara did great, after the first one she started to freak out just a bit.  Thankfully I had flung my cell phone at Lucy to answer right beforehand and she had to take it into the hall and she missed the mini freak.  If she had seen it, she would still not have her ears pierced!  Clara pulled herself together quickly and was good to go for the next one.

Here is Clara afterwards!  Happy as can be!  Plus looking just as pretty as ever---and a tad bit older which I wasn’t expecting…

Lucy had a look on her face after the first one, but did not  freak at all and before we knew it they were both done and so excited and relieved to have that over with!!

They have taken good care of their ears since.  We were able to change out earrings last week, but have not done so yet as Lucy really wanted to wait for her birthday.  Tomorrow, for her birthday I will be taking her to Claire's to pick out some earrings and the big changaroo will take place.  I know they are a bit anxious about it---nervous as well as excited!  The fashion possibilities excite Lucy tremendously!!

The only ear drama since that day was at a church picnic this past weekend.  Clara was on this bounce thing and lost the back to one earring.  Full melt down!!!  Mike of course made it worse when she came crying up to us and he said “Oh no!  Your ear is gone!”  It was hilarious---although, not at all funny to her!!  I gave her the back to one of my earrings and it was all good.  She was afraid that losing the back meant the earring was going to come out without another to put in and the hole would close up and it was going to be bad, bad, bad!  Good thing it wasn’t a bid deal  Smile  Whew!!!

That is so cool. Angel got hers done at Claire's in May and Hope got hers done (also at Claire's) for her birthday back in August. They both did awesome but I didn't take them together on purpose. lol Sierra is not letting her sisters pressure her in to getting it done before she is ready. lol
