Our church had a picnic a couple of weeks ago and we had so much fun! It is such a relief to us to know we are at the church that God would have us be at for now. We made the mistake with past moves of asking God to reveal our FOREVER church to us. We wanted to root so badly that we couldn’t even consider the fact that maybe those moves weren’t forever (or at least longer than they were----2 years (SC) and 1 year (AL). We went to some great churches, but never found our “home” church. We were determined with this move to just pray God lead us to where He would have us for now---since we have no idea what is around the corner for us---I mean, does anyone really know? That has seemed to be much more effective. New Life was just about the first church we went to here as we had several confirmations that we were to go, but then we started over thinking it and didn’t want to jump into the first church, so we checked out some others. All good churches, but not where we were to be----so back to New Life and that feeling of “home”! We made the official family decision a few weeks ago that this is it, and the flood of relief that has come with that is tremendous! That area of our lives has felt disjointed for a long time, and with that being the most important of our lives it was unsettling!
I talked in an earlier post about Clara losing the back to one of her earrings and the drama that ensued---well, that was the bouncy platform that it happened. It is actually a jousting arena (hence the thing Lucy has below to ram into people with).
They broke the kids into 3 groups for the Olympics and Mike was the leader of one group (Clara was on his team). The team leaders had to have a joust off and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed watching Mike joust!! It was too funny. I have video of it, so not many pictures and one day I am determined to figure out how to get videos on here, but today is not that day.
Mike won two and lost one. He had a good time with this!
The kids got to play all kinds of fun games, and I wish I could say I was a great photographer, but truth is I didn’t get pics of most of the games. I was too busy talking…. Go figure!
They did the egg race (above), there was potato sack races (which I really wish I had gotten a picture of because I have a picture of me as a little kid in such a race which would have been fun to post with the pic of them---oh well), water balloon dodge ball (see some pics below), a David and Goliath game, and some others. A lot and prep was put into all the fun stuff for the kids and I love that this is a church that does things with excellence and heart!
And the silver medal goes to….. Blue Team (Mike’s team)!!! Yeah!!! Lucy’s team came in first! Everyone had a really great time. Mike gave the medal to a little girl from his team that just loved him---it was so cute!
Clara has such a servants heart---at least away from home---not really when it comes to cleaning her room, but I’ll take what we get lol…. but she does love to help out. After the Olympics were over she immediately began helping with clean up.
