When Clara was a baby she used to always throw up during a storm. She had acid reflux, so she threw up a lot when there wasn’t a storm, but without fail, when a storm was coming she ALWAYS threw up!
When Clara was old enough to talk, she let us know she was afraid of storms. That is not unusual for small children though so we certainly weren’t concerned about it. We love storms, and tried to show her our love and appreciation for them and hoped it would catch on like it has with Lucy.
Clara got much better about storms for several years and then we went through the tornadoes in Alabama right before moving. That did her in!! Now she senses a storm a good half hour before it hits and will begin complaining of her stomach hurting and will go to a bed and cover herself with pillows. Apparently the more pillows there are, the more protected she feels as you can see in the top pic She will not feel better until the storm passes. She is actually a great weather indicator for us and is always right on with her “predictions”!!
I am not sure what to do about it. Once the storm passes she is fine with no lingering effects that I can detect. When the storm is coming though, she often throws up, or at the very least has a stomach ache, will not eat, will not come out of a bedroom and will absolutely freak out if we have to go anywhere during such weather! I pray with her, try to divert her attention to fun things (what I was doing while taking the pictures yesterday) and try to make her laugh. I may have some success, but for the most part it is fleeting if at all, and then she is back to her sickly self.
It disturbs Bella that Clara gets like this and she will often be nearby to “protect” her Clara
