Castillo de San Marcos

There was a plaque on the deck that stated there was a man in position and his job was to watch for canon fire (smoke) from ships. As soon as he saw the smoke his duty was to sound an alarm that was the signal for everyone to pray. I thought that was super cool and I have no doubt that went a long way in aiding in the safety, as only 2 people ever lost their life defending St. Augustine!

Each corner has a turret that the men would communicate from.

Mike explaining the process of firing the canon to the girls. They also had a great short film that showed the drills the people would go through all the time to keep them ready for combat.

Ready, Aim, Fire!!!
