Clara is a tough kid! She always has been! Starting on Friday night, Clara has been sick---real sick too! She threw up all night long on Friday. No one (but Lucy) got any sleep. Then all weekend she was only feeling better when she had the medicine in her system. As soon as that medication would wear off though, she was miserable again. She has had a fever all weekend as well, bless her little heart! She has been doing a great job of drinking water and apple juice and she even ate a little too and managed to keep it down.
Clara started complaining about her throat yesterday and how bad it hurt. Mike looked in it and was amazed at how nasty it looked---BRIGHT RED!!! We tried to get her into minor care yesterday, but both we went to have at least a 3 hour wait and we weren't going to put her through that when I could get her in to a Dr. today. So, this mornings trip was to the pediatrician. Sure enough, the poor thing has strep throat. Not only is her throat bright red, but now she is beginning to break out in a rash all over her body.
She also had a stomach virus, but that seems to have gone now and we are just dealing with the strep now. The kid is amazing though, she hardly lets on that she is not well. In fact, I thought she was almost totally better today, but I still wanted to have her checked out because it hurt to swallow even water. She is on antibiotics for the next 10 days and is still contagious for the next 2 days or so. So, please pray for her and for the rest of us as well that we will NOT get this!!
