The Flying Horse

We got a call while we were at church on Wed. night from ADT, our security company. I had left my cell phone in the car and Mike had his, but he didn't answer it in the middle of our Bible study because it was a 1-8o0 number. Fortunately it was towards the end of the study, so he checked his messages and was surprised to have one waiting for him.

Hello, this is ADT calling to tell you that we have an alarm going off in your house set off from the motion detector. The police are there now, please call us and go home as soon as you can.

That was about the gist of it. So, we gather up the kids and head home. What is normally a quick drive felt like so LONG!! We were just praying and thanking God for our safety and well being. It is funny the things that go through your mind though. We love the show on Discovery about the ex thieves that break in It Takes A Thief. We have seen so many of those that images of what the house looks like afterwards was entering my mind. ADT said the alarm noticed motion for 4 min. We know in that amount of time the house could be cleaned out! It is amazing how fast they can get away with your whole life just about.

On the way home I got a call from my mother. ADT had called her too. They are on our call list if we can't be reached. My friend Cheryl got a call too---but what is funny there is what in the world would they do? I put them on there because I figured they would know how to get in touch with us... It's time I put some local people on there now that I know some :)

Anyway, sure enough when we got home we were greeted by two patrol cars. The one cop greeted us and informed us that nothing appeared to be wrong, but that the alarm had noticed movement even since he was there but he couldn't see anything and he really felt it was a wiring problem. The only problem with that is that it is wireless :)

We had the girls stay in the car while we entered the house with the cop. As soon as we got into the school room area (the motion detector that had been tripped) we were face to face with a half deflated horse balloon that is rather large floating around. It was for Lucy's birthday and apparently had gotten off it's string and when the heat kicked on it would blow the balloon thus setting off the motion detector. Oh, how we laughed!! Even the cop found the humor thankfully!

We apologized to him and called my parents to give them the news and then Mike and Lucy proceeded to suck the remaining Helium out of the balloon and talk all funny. At least that won't happen again :) How funny!
