A Cap Hat

My parents were telling me about chemo caps.  I have never heard of this before, and when I looked it up online there were all kinds of patterns.  Clara has been wanting to learn how to sew, and we actually had the sewing stuff out and fired up because Lucy has been working on headbands for the homeschool craft fair coming up.  So, once I found a good pattern I liked, we put it into action.

I had to do one first to see how it worked.  Old sleep pants, are now a comfy cozy sleep cap—and if it can do good to keep a sick (recovering) person warm, then it is way worth it!!

Lucy’s turn!

Looking good!  The pink t shirt fabric worked great because we could clearly see the thread and I was able to instruct them well.

So, we used the same fabric for Clara and she did great!  Clara was so excited to be sewing something—basically by herself!  She would finish a section and then clap her hands and excitedly exclaim “I did it!  I did it! And I’m GOOD at it!!”  No confidence issues of course  :)

Good job baby!!  I did one today with fleece, but it had less stretch then the t shirt fabric (would be warmer too of course), but I have to modify the pattern a bit for that.

Today Lucy and I were sewing cosmetic pouches we are selling.  Another simple sew project, and Clara got to do her own of that too.  She said between the two things she has had her fill of sewing for a while… go figure!  It’s not easy finding a crafty thing to hold her interest for very long, but I will take what I can get.  Lucy on the other hand sewed almost all day today.  When she wasn’t sewing she was making banana bread.  Yum!

Today was a day at home doing all that and it was fabulous!!  We are always so busy, so to just hang out at home and get some things done, and have fun—heaven!!  I got some work done with Origami Owl—this was the weekend that the bracelets are now available, so I had to place that order.  Also, as though I didn’t have enough to do, I have signed up to be a Thirty One consultant.  I got my kit last week and I ‘m really excited about that!  I have my first double party scheduled on the 21st.  Should be fun  :)
