Officially A Teen

I have no idea how it happened, but our oldest became a teen!!  Not a tween—a full blown TEEN!!  I was just getting used to her being a tween—I was good with that!

For her big day she had a sleep over with a few of her friends.  It was loosely a 50s Diner theme.  We had trays and candy from the era.  Below the girls are partaking in those nasty wax bottles filled with death goo—yuck!!  They also had a “sock hop” and each girl brought their craziest socks and they danced the night away—or so I was told—we were in our room :)  Clara spent the night at a friends house, so it was all them…

Most agreed those wax things are disgusting!  Some actually liked them though—ick!

I was in charge of meals, of course.  For dinner we did burgers on the grill and french fries.  I did have to add a salad—Lucy can’t live without her salad  :)

For dessert we had an ice cream sunday bar.  That was a big hit!  The next morning they had breakfast bowls—grits, eggs, sausage, cheese—yummy!!

Lucy hates getting gifts!  It makes her feel selfish and uncomfortable, so this was the worst part for her—opening things people got for her.

She managed though  :)  They all had a great time!  I came down a few times through the night and they were always up.  I was told they did sleep some, but I never saw any proof  :)  Well that’s not true, a few girls were drawn on—their faces—with SHARPIE!!!  So, that’s what happens when you fall asleep…  A good scrubbing and the girls went home with just a faint hint of the artwork that was there prior.

It was a great birthday Lucy says  :)  She is a great kid!  We are blessed beyond measure to have her in our lives!  The young lady she is growing into awes me daily!  Then at other moments she wows me with just how teen girl she is  LOL!

Now we gear up for Clara’s party.  She too would love a sleep over, but I have a limit on how many 9ish year olds I can handle throughout a night!!  So, we are going with a party at Excalibur Family Fun park—2 hours and we are done  :)  Now that’s my kind of party  :)
