I have a garden buddy! I love this little lizard (well, “little” is all relative—as he appears to be very well fed! and I do hope it is all spider in that belly!)
He emerges mid afternoon when it is warmer.
He loves to lay out on the cinder blocks to sun during the afternoon. I can almost always find him out there and he seems to be getting used to me and doesn’t run anymore.
My first squash bloom. I have three squash planted in the kids old sand box, and the box works great, but they aren’t overly thrilled with where it is located because they don’t get as much sun as I thought. We plan to move it, but haven’t yet.
Look at that belly!!!! Full of spiders!!! Eat up!! We named him Stump due to his short tail. You can see where it is starting to grow back. Poor fella, had a bad day, but he got away from whatever had him and I am very thankful :)
Lizards are very territorial come to find out. I do need to do more research to learn what this one is as most around here are anoles or skinks and he is neither of those. Research done—he is a fence lizard (and I’m thinking he is most likely a she as the males have blue sides—but you can only tell that from underneath and I can’t say I have seen this one from that vantage point. He seems like a he to me though
At the pool we have a male green anole that has laid claim to the cabana area. He was puffing out his neck today looking for a mate and we saw a smaller anole coming up the stairs towards him. We tried to set the mood for a nice date (lol) and are hoping to have more lizards in the near future :) I also disturbed two skinks in the front yard having a nice date—so maybe more coming there too :) We love lizards!! It’s so nice to go outside and have critters we love—instead of all the dang spiders all the time!! Killed another wolf yesterday that had some babies that scurried—I think I got them all too—but ICK!!!! We got some major spider/bug killer at Lowes tonight :) I’m armed now spiders—fear me!
