Bella’s New Do

Since moving to the country Bella has been a very happy dog!  The problem is the itching though—she has some allergy issues :(  Due to some of the pattern of itching I know it is to fleas so I have switched the montly stuff I put her on to help with that and I suspect we will see improvement there shortly.  I know she has some other allergy issues too though.  We have been giving her Benadryl 2 times a day and that helps, but with all her licking she has gotten huge clumps in her fur.  I know they have got to be horribly uncomfortable as they are pulling her fur!  She is not a fan of having anyone poke and prod at her, but in shorter increments it can be done with some restraint.

I had to work from the worst clumps and go from there.  Her fur is SO thick up underneath that it was almost like one continual clump.  I had to just keep trimming.  I was using little scissors, but I did the best job I could :)  One day it was just half her body, but I was able to get her down again and even her up somewhat.  I wasn’t planning the outcome to look like a lion, but she very much has a lion do!  We had some plumbers over and they all made a comment about her looking like a lion  LOL!  So we sing to her all the time now—In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle, the Lion sleeps tonight  :)

Having it all trimmed up makes it easier to get the cortisone spray on her where it needs to be too.  It’s not a perfect job, but she is still beautiful and seems to be much happier now  :)
