Update

Here is Felix with us during school time :)

We are now in full moving mode!  Amazing ride this has been, and far quicker than we were anticipating (which is great!).  When we put the offer on the house we knew we had to wait 2 more months to close due to the short sale situation.  The sellers were fine with that (although they said if we could move it up that would be better).  We agreed, but never figured that was possible.  When our mortgage woman submitted all the info to VA they said that due to the circumstances of the short sale, they would waive the 2 year wait period—they actually would have allowed us to buy a house with only 1 year wait time!!  Of course, there was no way to find that out without submitting a contract and why would we have done that earlier when we were told it had to be two years.  LOL!!  It’s alll comical—but speaks loudly of God’s perfect timing!  If that was the time we were to move on God would have opened someone's eyes to that, but the fact is there is no way we would have been ready or able to a year ago.  We know we are in the right time frame now as God has confirmed that over and over again throughout this process (He has actually blown us away with how much He is showing off—just because He can!!).

So, closing got moved us 6 weeks (in fact, the sellers asked for an extra week—we could have closed this past Friday)!!  Closing is now scheduled for this coming Friday.  The sellers will be out by Sat., and we are in by Sun.  We were originally planning on taking our time moving to get a few things done there while the house was empty.  We have since decided to go ahead and move quicker though as the house we are renting is being sold and will be closed on the 26th.  We have never met the new owner (he is purchasing it to be one of his many rental properties). We feel it would be best to be out by the end of the month.  So, let the packing go into full swing!!

Of course, I have my timeline noted out and we have been busy packing boxes and taking things down.  We did decide to go with a local moving company for the big things.  We just aren’t as young as we used to be, and neither are our friends  :)  The movers get paid hourly, and if they get the big things (which will happen the Tuesday after closing) then we have plenty of trailers and trucks and people to help with the rest—depending on what would be left.

Tomorrow we have our final walk through.  Mike leaves on Tuesday for a business trip and will be back in time to close on Friday.  We went from thinking this was going to be a long 2 1/2 months waiting to close/move—and it turned out to be a super fast process.  Our mortgage woman has been fantastic, we have a great realtor, the sellers are great—so far there has been much ease—however, a lot can happen in a week—but we are being told there should be no surprises—everything is good to go!  Yippee!!
