America

There is a movie production company here in town, RSquared.  We have been through it before on a field trip when they were editing the movie New Hope (which is really good—and is now available on Netflix and Red Box)!!  I saw they put out a casting call for young girls for a movie called “America”,  and asked Lucy if she was interested.  She was and so we put together an acting resume with a head shot and got it to them just in time  :)

Today was her audition.  We prayed several times leading up to this that God would lead, guide and direct and Lucy will not be disappointed at all if she isn’t called back as we know it could be for any number of reasons—all she could do was to do the best she could do, which she did  :)  We figured it would be a great experience, no matter what the outcome.

Lucy did not appear to be nervous at all.  It was very interesting the whole process.  She had the option of standing or sitting and since the girl in the scene she was reading was standing, she choose to stand.  The only slight problem is she did need help on her lines a couple of time, but she kept her composure and rolled with it.

After a partial take, he stopped her and gave direction and was very pleased with how well she took direction and implemented what he was requesting.  I have to say it was super cool being there, the process, hearing him say “action” and “cut”, the camera, and all of it!  What a great field trip!  Very proud of Lucy and her attitude and composure!

In other news, we all had our physicals (since we have to try to not see a doctor next year since our insurance will be so much more—for LESS coverage—got to love that!!!)  We are all very healthy, my blood work is great two years post surgery which I am thrilled about.  The only issue was the doctor didn’t like something he felt with my thyroid.  I really figured it was just because I only have half left from a tumor/lobectomy 12 years ago.  It stands to reason the remainder will get bigger to compensate.  I had to go in for an ultrasound, which I did last Monday.  The doctor called me on Thursday to explain that they found 2 nodules and the next step is to go in for an ultrasound guided biopsy.  The only thing that concerned me is that he said they are not going to do a needle aspiration (which was done 12 years ago) because it is clear that at least one of the nodules is solid.  I remember from the way back when that solid increases the chances of malignancy.  I asked him about it and he said, yes, but we will just have to see what we see with the biopsy.  So, Friday is the big biopsy day.

I’m honestly not worried about it.  We have prayed and no matter what the outcome, God is in control!  It is entirely possible they check on Friday and no nodules are even there anymore  :)  No matter what though, God has it and what relief there is in that!

In happier news, one of Clara’s little friends has come to us and is wanting to plan a surprise party for Clara to celebrate her birthday!  It is the sweetest, kindest gesture!!  We just love this child, and her heart!!  I talked to her mom and she was telling me A has lists of games, favors, friends, food—you name it, she has been thinking a lot about this and really is looking forward to this.  So, the big day for that is Thursday!!  We can’t wait!!  Well, Clara can as she has no idea—but Lucy and I can not wait!!  There should be 8, maybe 9, little girls (including Clara and A).  It will be at the outreach center at church, and that is all I know….  how cool is that??!!!  Lucy came up with the story of how she needs to go to the church for pictures.  It is possible that Clara may be able to get pictures too, so she needs to be dressed appropriately.  I will drop Lucy off to run in since we are running late, and Clara and I will follow in shortly after.  Lucy has very much enjoyed the stealth aspect of this rouse  :)  Mike will not be able to go unfortunately though since it is at 2 pm and he can’t take the time from work since he is taking the following day off for my biopsy.
