All the Fun

We got to see lots of cool places while in Branson.  We had asked for recommendations by people before going so we were sure to not miss the best things  :)  I also did a good bit of research online.

We did a quick tour and tasting at Stone Hill Winery.  My friend that told me about it said she orders from here every year.  We decided to bring her back a bottle of wine and had to guess at what she would like.  Come to find out, we picked her favorite, and it is what she orders every year around her birthday!  We patted ourselves on the back  LOL!  She doesn’t know we have a bottle for her yet and I can’t wait to give it to her!!  I was going to wait till Christmas but I don’t know if I can wait that long  :)

We had heard the Titanic museum was a good one and my girls LOVE all things Titanic.  Not sure why—but they always have!  We watched a lot of documentaries and got some books since this was the 100th year anniversary.  I gave them the choice of several different museums and both, without hesitation, wanted the Titanic museum!  I am so glad we did it—this was a fabulous museum!!  They do not allow you to take pictures inside though.  We were able to save a bunch of money on tickets by getting a homeschool discount which was great!

We saw a wonderful model of the Titanic, got to feel a real iceberg, were able to dip our hands in 28 degree water and see how long we could keep our hand in it (not easy—that was PAINFUL, and the thought of their whole bodies being thrown in to that freezing water—I just can’t even imagine it!), we were able to try to climb the slope of the deck at various different times during the sinking, and we got to walk up the grand staircase—done to the exact blueprints—and was BEAUTIFUL!!  It truly gave us a greater appreciation for the splendor of the ship!  We were also given a boarding pass that identified us as an actual passenger.  At the end of the tour you were able to find out if you survived or not.  Mike and I both died, but the girls both lived.  In fact, the crew member that Lucy was went on to be in two more shipwrecks in her lifetime!!  Basically, if you got a boat and she was there you just needed to get off immediately!!  She also is the only crew member to have written a book.  It was another great way to really be a part of the experience!

There are no shortage of shows to go see while in Branson either!  It can be a bit overwhelming in fact trying to pick and choose.  We knew we were only going to one, so we wanted to make a good choice  :)  We had heard Hamner Barber was a good one, and we liked that it was a mix of a magic, comedy, ventriloquism, singing, etc.—basically, a bit of everything!  Also, we got a great deal with a family pass from a discount barn—and it was worth every penny!

While waiting in the lobby, there was a magician putting on a pre show and he asked Clara to help him for some of the tricks.  She did a great job and loved “performing”!

I was unable to take pictures in side the show though.  Lucy had been approached beforehand to ask if she would participate in one of the magic acts in the show.  Of course she jumped at the opportunity!  When needing a helper the guy came out into the audience and “felt” Lucy was the right choice  LOL!  We were in the front row (a perk of going off season), and Lucy eagerly ran up on stage!  She got to FLOAT!!  They laid her out on a “flying carpet” and she had to lay still as he removed the supports from under her.  They passed the hoop over her to show no strings.  Lucy did a great job and was very funny with her dialog with the magician!  He raved about how witty and funny she was when we got to meet with him afterwards.  They also gave her lots of free stuff for helping out!  Then later on in the show they were looking for men to help out and Mike was chosen to be part of the act.  He an another man had to be puppets and the ventriloquist dressed them up silly and they had to move their mouths to songs and he gave them a voice.  Mike was hilarious!!  He too was given lots of free stuff for his help!  I think we walked out pretty even when it was all said and done  LOL!

The show was wonderful and we would highly recommend it!  The girls were absolutely riveted the whole time, and the fact that two of us were part of the show only enhanced the experience!
