Mike sent this picture home to show how hard he works for us :) You go boy!!
In other work news—Mike is getting a promotion!! I am so proud of him (promotion or not, but this is just another example of how awesome he is)! He will be receiving his official offer letter on the 16th. His annual raise will be in effect as of the 15th, so they wanted to wait for that so the promotion raise would be on top of that. Mike still has a few question to ask about benefits and such with the job, but it sounds as though it is a done deal.
We do not know for sure how much travel will be required of him. It could be as much as 40% or as little as 10%. Since this isn’t an already existing position it is hard to know for sure, so this first year will tell us a lot there. If he had a home office he could work from there while not traveling, but we do not have a home office for him where we currently are. So, that will be something to keep in mind when we are looking for a home to buy in a year or so. In the meantime, he is able to keep an office at the mill here. He will have to move from the office he is currently in. We went with him over the weekend to look for an office and found a good one. This one building that he will be moving in to has many empty offices to choose from. We also scavenged for furniture for the office which was fun. He is not given an allowance per se for an office at the plant since his office should be at home so we have to find the furnishings—but fortunately there is lots of stuff to pick from. We found him a credenza, desk, two chairs, a painting, and a coat rack. The girls really thought this was awesome! I have to admit—that was fun!
If we find that he is traveling a lot to one particular area, we may decided it best for the family to move to that area…however, they do believe he will be able to spend the majority of his time here at the West Monroe plant. We would really love to stay in this area, which really does amaze us both! Another example of the awesomeness of the people here is that friends of ours have been given a fantastic opportunity to move to the Bahamas! They are going for it (I mean who wouldn’t!!!), but they are keeping their house here as they want to return to this area and are really sad about leaving—even if it is only for a year or so. You would think though, given such an opportunity would be a no brainer—sell it all and off you go!! They have been in this area a year longer than we have and said they never would have expected it themselves. All I can say is—when can we come for a visit??!!! :)
