Not all the kids on the mission spoke English, and some spoke some but very little. Some of course spoke excellent English. One language they ALL spoke fluently was Ninja!! Who knew!! I didn’t even know our kids knew this game, but they all did! No instructions were needed—just say Ninja, get in a circle and someone yells out “1, 2, 3 Ninja” and each kid strikes a pose. Then you take turns going around the circle trying to chop the next persons hand. Once your hand is chopped it stays behind you and you do it until your other hand is chopped and you are out.
Us adults got in on the action too. I quite enjoyed it myself!
Circle games. Not sure what all they did here as we had gotten word just before this that a local restaurant had tons (literally) of frozen peaches they were not going to use and wanted to donate. We were able to go and pick up 1000 lbs of peaches to distribute to the apartments in the complex. Lucy went with me, and all total there were about 7 or 8 of us distributing peaches. We would knock on the door and hand them a big bag of frozen peaches. Many didn’t speak English and would poke it not sure what we were handing them. We were taught how to say peach in Spanish which helped. Then they understand that, everyone knew when we said Arlington Mission and Jesus loves them! It was a very special time!
When the kids were fed inside, we picnicked at our cars.
