Zeppelin

We love homeschooling!  Today one of Lucy’s vocabulary words was “zeppelin”. With her vocab we deal a lot with antonym and synonyms and so we were contrasting zeppelin with balloon. I had just seen in a magazine how to make a zeppelin using a balloon---how perfect!

One we made the basic zeppelin though, that was just not enough of course.  We had looked up the Hindenburg and discussed hydrogen vs. helium zeppelins and the luxury of  this type of air travel (honestly I don’t care how nice it is inside, you are still above the Atlantic Ocean in a balloon type thing----that just seems scary to me!).

Well, passengers had to be on their zeppelin’s as well  :)

When the girls are done playing with their zeppelins they wish to “pop” them to simulate the burning (and crashing) of the Hindenburg 75 years ago.

This impromptu lesson also led to looking up Led Zeppelin to learn how they got their name and let the girls hear their classic “Stairway to Heaven”.  They had never heard that before---which is as odd as hearing someone say “who is Elvis”  LOL!
