Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo

It was field trip day to the zoo!  Of course it had to be cold that day…. go figure, but we had a great time in spite of the cold!

There was an educational program we got to attend in which we all got to pet a gator and learn more about them.

Also, my favorite animal, an opossum.  Amazingly soft too and just too darn cute!!  What I love the most about them though is how God has equipped them to play dead---slowing their heart rate and emitting a foul odor to make them smell dead as well.  Amazing animals!

In one area the people were what was small as the bugs were BIG.

Then, outside---because kids just don’t feel cold----they enjoyed hanging out and climbing the tree and playing  (you know, because they are homeschooled and totally unsocialized  LOL).  The Moms got good chatting time too until we just could not tolerate the cold any longer!

We have been to a lot of zoos, all over in different states, and although this is a smaller zoo, it was pretty good.  Certainly better than nothing and it will be fun to go back---maybe on a warmer day!
