Clara is our science kid. To her, the best way to spend time is doing dissections! While we were moving here I had frozen a dud bird egg and once we moved there was a cicada that wasn’t going to make it due to a bum wing, so we froze it as well. Clara would ask me daily when we were going to dissect these two and I just wasn’t ready.
I took the critters out of the freezer a couple days ago and the anticipation and excitement has been mounting! I thought we would be able to do this yesterday, but we got sidetracked and there just wasn’t the time. Well, Clara threw a FIT!!! Full out crying tantrum over not getting to do this. We got some of it on video and there is a section I want to post on here to share of her explaining what her fit was about (we shall see if I can’ figure out how to edit that down and then post----took me long enough to figure out how to just get these pics on here---and I’m not convinced I have done it right until I see it actually posts
Well, today was the exciting day!! Clara was THRILLED! We were happy to see that Cheryl is as in to dissections as the rest of us (well, Lucy wasn’t required to be a part of this and she didn’t want any part of it).
I took it apart first with the knife and we tried to identify it’s parts, then I handed it over to Clara to explore. She was in heaven! What amazes me is that doing an art project, she has about a 10 min limit of time, whereas, Lucy can do art for HOURS. On the other hand, Clara can sit for hours gutting something and Lucy has about a 10 min limit.

Dissection is not my favorite part but I can appreciate a child's love of learning. Each one love's to learn in different ways. Sierra loves science, Hope loves math, Angel loves making things so I totally get that. I would be with Lucy on this one. :) Looks like you guys are having fun learning. :)
