Yesterday we took Bella for a walk at the river and discovered a dead beaver. I would imagine for most people, they would maybe notice it and move away grossed out, or possibly check it out a bit and then not give it a second thought. Not us homeschoolers---we were fascinated by it and this morning we took a “field trip” to go collect the remains.
When I told the girls this morning when they got up what the plan was they literally jumped for joy! Much excitement was in the air as we collected what we would need for this adventure: gloves, bags, container, and of course the camera!
It was no small beaver!! We have some skin/fur left on it and I will need to find out the best way to clean it all up.
Lucy got to carry our treasure. She wanted no part of picking it up, but once it was contained she was good with it.
Also on our walk we found a few dead fish. The girls were not going to rest until we collected a fish as well! So, here is our fish, and he is BIG!!
This big fish made the box considerably heavier!
I love the look on Lucy’s face----she is so grossed out by it all and yet loves it so much at the same time. She started laughing walking back to the car and said this is homeschool gym class---walking with weights (the weight being the carcasses). LOL----so, today we have had science and gym class!!
Once home, we took our finds to the back yard. It did not take long for Mouse to investigate---and Felix was inside watching.
Now Mouse is saying “What the heck??!!”

Okay you are much braver than I. I would not be looking at the remains. UGH. lol
That's just disgusting!! Glad the girls liked it - my kids would have too.
Just catching up on your blog. I LOVE the look on Lucy's face! Priceless! Save it for her for later, like her wedding shower or some such elegant event :)
