We went to a Revolutionary War reenactment and we all really enjoyed seeing colonial living. I have been to such things before, mainly regarding the Civil War, but I never really cared quite frankly. Now I have such a greater appreciation for history because I have a desire to learn to teach my children, and also because God is all through history, so that fascinates me to see where religion fit it since that is
always the underlying thing that drives us.

The girls had the opportunity to make a rag doll, just like they would have made back then. Lucy very much enjoyed this project and she really did walk away with a greater appreciation of the work that went into such things since they didn't have local WalMart to just go to replace a destroyed doll.

Proudly displaying her finished rag doll.

We learned a lot about the dress of the day and the reasons for each part of the outfit. It was really cool!

Clara was not interested in making the doll, but she found a little dog she liked :) They have this reenactment every year, so we bought a couple of kid friendly books and we will study up for the next one, and I even think the outfits would be a great learning thing to make and also to wear for Halloween next year. I am so not organized enough for that this year :)
