Horsin' Around...

On one of the homeschooling loops I had heard of this Equestrian center and we thought we would go check it out. We had no idea how awesome this place really was though!! There was hiking trails, a nature center (was technically closed when we were there, but someone did let us in to give us more info for a field trip with the kids), the horse area has shows and competitions just about every weekend until November and it is totally free to go and watch.

I keep thinking of that song by Laurie Berkner---Under a shady tree, you and me :) Now that song is totally stuck in my head!!

There was a horse driving competition that was taking place and it was great to watch! Most of the people were dressed in period dress, and I can't even imagine how hot it must have been for them!! It was cool to see the different carriages and of course the girls LOVED seeing all the horses! We loved that this was FREE! We will be bringing a lunch next time and making a day of it :)

Nap time! Well not really, but it was a great place to rest. It was very hot, but fortunately we came prepared with plenty of water. So, after a little break, we were ready to go again :)

This was so cool. The pond was full of lilies and I would love to go back when they are all in bloom. We were laughing at the fish---they followed us everywhere we went. Next time we will bring some bread for them. We felt like Evan Almighty when all the fish were surrounding him---we were very popular here---maybe they knew we were Herring's :)

On our way home we happened across this cool covered bridge that we could walk down to the river and it was beautiful!

Wow - you have been busy. I am very impressed! Hope you are having a great week!

Mom told me about the great office furniture you bought. When you think of it, can you send me the link. We are in the market!

Love,
Whitney
