Got Milk?

Well, the Happy Cow Creamery sure does have milk! We went with other local homeschoolers on a field trip to see where milk comes from. It was a great trip and the tour was wonderful, called From Grass to Glass. Clara's most favorite thing to consume is chocolate milk, so we knew she would really get into at least the tasting at the end. I was amazed though by how much more she got from it all. Lucy was fascinated by the whole process (as was I) and we really learned a lot.

When we got there we were greeted by this great bull dog!! She was so awesome and loved the kids!!
I did check the weather, but apparently didn't check to see what time of day it would be hot. I am still used to Savannah weather, and I never thought to take jackets. Well, it was cold, but thankfully we had a blanket for our picnic and it served well to bundle the kids in until it warmed up. It didn't take long before it was hot though :)

After the tour the kids got to do some strawberry picking. They loved this! They would put one in the basket and one in their mouths. Yummy!

While we were there we were told of this cow that was in labor (if you look close you can see something sticking out of her back end there). One little boy said it looked like she had a balloon sticking out of her butt, and well, it did :) Farmer Tom figured at least an hour before baby came and we weren't sure if we were going to stay. God knew a bunch of us were considering leaving though, so He sped the process up :)

So, we actually got to not only see the process of milk, but also the process of a baby cow coming into the world. It was awesome and such a great experience for our kids!! This is the mother licking off the baby right after she had it.
