Outside School

Now that we are somewhat settled we have been getting back into the swing of school.  Over the weekend we worked outside and got the backyard spiffy  :)  We planted out garden (still a few things to plant, but for the most part it is done).  We planted 3 types of tomatoes, squash, zucchini, eggplant, and have potted blueberry bushes, 2 lemon trees, cilantro, parsley, basil, and 3 kinds of mint—oh and a black berry bush.  We really got to bond with our back yard too.  I got the patio all set up, swept and good to go.

Monday was absolutely gorgeous here and it would have been a sin to stay indoors!  So, outside it was!  We were able to enjoy the labor of the weekend, the scenery (the pool has a cover on it right now so it wasn’t too much of a distraction  LOL), the gorgeous weather, and learning!!  While schooling we got to watch two skinks wrestling, were visited by a few neighborhood dogs, and one cat, and of course all the squirrels and birds!

I am hoping to get to do more school outside.  In fact there is a perfect spot to add a chalk board that we can use for school (or for play or whatever too—I mean, can you have too many chalk boards LOL).

We also ate lunch and dinner outside.  It was nice to just pick a little parsley to add to our meal too.

Today for lunch we had breakfast burritos with fresh eggs (we don’t have chickens yet—I get them from a friend), fresh parsley and fresh cilantro.  Oh my goodness, it was delicious!!

We have a large kennel that is totally overgrown right now that we are planning on clearing out and then adding a coop and it will be a great place for our own chickens!  We are super excited about that.  I’m thinking realistically though that will happen next year, not this one.  We shall see.  I do know someone we can buy hens from, not chicks, which gives us more freedom with time.  We shall see.  We have a list of things we want to do that come before clearing out that kennel and making a coop.  When things die back it would be easier I would think and less chance of all the poison stuff getting all over Mike.  Eventually….
