The Next Chapter

Well, we contacted the mortgage lady and have decided that it is about time to go ahead and meet with a realtor and begin the process of really looking for a house.  We can not close prior to April 11th, but we know with VA it is a 45 day close and we didn’t figure we would find something for at least a few weeks.

I also had to do some mental work—to wrap my mind around the fact that we aren’t looking for the forever home per se, but for the next home—for however long God would have us steward it.  We went to a local church to see Perry Stone preach, and the first night I went up for prayer (Friday).  I really dealt with the housing issue I have, my need to nest, my desire to root….  I released it.  What God was ministering to me isn’t new , but I felt the release!

A house came up on the market that intrigued us and we went ahead an set an appt to see it. It seemed to fit our new thinking that we need something that doesn’t need a ton of work as we just don’t know how long we will be here, and we need it to be in a good area to see when we need it to sell.

Anyway, Sat. morning we had an appt to see this house and we were BLOWN AWAY!!!  God is SHOWING OFF!!!  Everything from my need list, and everything from the want list is in this house!!  The only thing is that Lucy would not get her own bathroom  LOL!  Oh, the big job we would have to do is add a shower in the master bedroomS bath.  I made that word plural because the master has several attached rooms—it’s very odd, but very cool!  There is plenty of room to put in a shower and in the mean time we would just have to share the other bath upstairs.  The seller also said she would give an allowance for having that done.

The seller has lived here for 12 years and recently got married and they want a house that is theirs.  She is a top executive at Chase, and priced it to sell as she doesn’t NEED the money per se.  The realtor, who knows her very well, said she is the most accommodating person and would be most fair.  She is a Christian (a REAL one—you could certainly tell by her home, but also talking with the realtor).  I know she is praying about the new owners, we are praying (and if this doesn’t work out, we are fine with that too), and the realtor is praying—how awesome!!

The woman LOVES to cook, and she redid the kitchen a few years ago top of the line!!  I was blown away by it!  The downstairs is basically done, although the room that would be our school room needs a little work (she uses it for storage), the laundry room needs a little sprucing as does the half bath.  We have plans for the garage to make it a very multi purpose space.  Upstairs she has not done and said she was willing to give an allowance for redecorating that.  It isn’t bad at all either—yes new carpet would be great and fresh paint.  The big project being adding a shower—so a partial bath redo (we wouldn’t have to do the toilet room).  In the kids rooms there is a high vault in each room and a loft area would be awesome in those.  That’s it!  The outside is good.  There are 4 acres, and most are wooded and do not require upkeep.  There is a pool (very large above ground) with fabulous decking.  Well a tree fell on it (and I swear God threw a tree on it because there aren’t really trees right there)—but the tree fell on it and collapsed the side in.  So, she is replacing the pool with a brand new one!

There are things not on our list at all!!  For instance, a hot tub and a dune buggy, and to the great delight of the girls we could have the two little dogs that were dumped there too.  We would have to make sure they are healthy and heart worm free, up on shots, and fixed first—but the realtor said she would be willing to leave them because she really didn’t want to take them ,but wasn’t going to ditch them.

There is a little basement area (yes in LA, a little basement because the land is hilly---yes in upper LA—amazing!!!  I mean, God is SHOWING OFF BIG TIME!!  :)

The girls named the dogs Savannah and Douglas (Douggy) to go with the cities they were both born in.  Above is Doug!  They are so cute  :)

Lucy wore a cape (from my Captain America costume).  What a goof  LOL!  She said it must have helped give us luck.  Mike asked her to hold his jacket and she tied it around a tree :)

So, now we wait.  We did explain our situation that we would not be able to close prior to April 11th and the realtor thought that would be fine with the seller.  We have a few questions in to the realtor and then we will move ahead with an actual offer/contract when we find out a few things.

Actually the earliest we could close would be April 16th because Mike will be in Sweden until the 15th.  Not that we would be anxious or anything  LOL!

We are praying that God be clear and whatever the outcome, I do believe we are good with.  I have such peace—that truly does surpass all understanding!
