Biopsy Day

Right before Christmas I had to get a biopsy done on 2 of my 3 nodules in my thyroid.  One nodule is too small and is located in such a place as it would be too dangerous to biopsy it.

The procedure wasn’t too bad.  Waiting was the worst part of it.

Under the bandaid it looked as though a couple of vampires fought over me :)  I had to keep that ice pack on for several hours and was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t swell or bruise much at all.  It was tender for a few days, but not too bad.

Since my doctor is switching offices and will not be back in until after the first of the year I have to wait for the results.  I am not concerned though as I know they are benign :)  I also know I will not opt for surgery to have them removed if that is recommended (although it may well not be recommended).  I see no need to mess with the half of the thyroid that I have left given that it is working fine according to my blood work.  I am researching natural remedies and believe I will see shrinkage of the nodules in time.  For that I am thankful for the “gift” of these nodules to lead me to more dietary health benefits to add into our diets  :)
