Let The Cutting Begin

The long anticipated time of dissection has finally arrived!

I love this picture of my friend—cracks me up!!

The little lab partners.  Included in our dissection kit is hair scrunchies so Lucy can really get into her work and not wear it  :)

Here we go—the first incision!  We started off by removing the layers of fat and muscle.  There was a LOT of fat and muscle!!

Haha, this is fun!

Ok, it’s time to get serious!

I mean, REALLY serious!  Someone said on FB that it looked like they were cutting up a steak  LOL!

I was helping Clara.  I have to admit I enjoyed this tremendously!

I am holding up the eyeball with the optic nerve clearly displayed and I LOVE the expression on S’s face!!  Cracks me up!!

A perfect picture!  When you cut through the cornea the fluid oozes out, and this was just too much for S to handle!  I give her so much credit though, as she is a fainter, and she hung in there for this!

Showing Clara where to cut.

Clara having at it!

The lens!  We brought these home to play with as they are so super cool!  You can put them on print and see how they magnify.  By holding them up you see the imagine is upside down.  In an almost dark room you can see how they glow (we didn’t actually see this well, but we will play more).

I love the intent here—really studying that lens!  What was different in the cow eye that we do not have is the layer that glows when light hits it.  It was iridescent and beautiful!!  That surprised me most of all I think.  That, and that the iris looks like the underside of mushroom from behind.

The main thing that was so obvious is the perfection and magnificence of the Creator!  I mean WOW!!  For some to say this was  by chance—well that just makes no sense whatsoever!
