It is difficult to take pictures at an amusement park—but I did manage to get a few :)
We thought SDC was going to remind us of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN and we were right! They are very similar—in fact, the whole area of Branson reminded us of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN. We were excited about that as we LOVE that are of TN very much! Not that this is close—but it is a bit closer for us :)
We went to SDC at 3 pm on Wed. and then got to go back the following day on the same ticket. So, the same day we went on the trail ride (see following posts) we also got to go to an amusement park—I mean, does it get any better than that??!!!
We got to see a western stunt show that was really good! This is the fam right beforehand. Below you see Clara making good use of the time for a bit of a rest :)
Here we are waiting in line for one of the rollercoasters. When I say “waiting in line” that just means waiting for the coaster to come back—there were no lines!! It was fabulous!! We would go on a ride, get right back in line and do it again!
One time Lucy and I decided to wait a couple of turns in order to get in the front row, and when we were next to get on, we experienced a guy THROW UP all over the ride!! Apparently the protocol for that is to shut down the ride for about 20 min to clean and disinfect :( We did not wait—too much else to do :)
Lucy is definitely a thrill seeker like her Mama! She was nervous at first, especially with the loop coaster (5 loops total in it—including loops and barrel rolls). Once she got through the first time she was hooked!! Clara on the other hand could not be convinced to go on that one with us. She waited with our stuff while the rest of us rode and she enjoyed watching. Clara did ride all the other rides though and she too loves coasters! Now she regrets that she didn’t ride the WildFire. We told her she would be sad she didn’t, but she is determined that next time she will be all over it LOL!
We had riden this ride several times, and by this time it was just Lucy and I that wanted to continue, and it was starting to rain. We are the second group of 2 from the right. Ohm, that was FUN!!
I love, love, love this picture!! The girls were going on this pirate ship ride—and quite excited about it. I love it!!
Getting ready to FLY!
I can only imagine what all Clara is talking about here :)
WWWEEEEEE!!!!!
WWWWEEEEEE!!!!!
I love Food Network and one of my favorite shows is Chopped. We have a winning chef that has a restaurant here in Monroe (that is fabulous!!). While we were at SDC for the Harvest Festival, another Chopped chef was there giving demonstrations and we got to sample some of his food (which was yummy!). His name is Kent, and is a super nice guy! Apparently he also beat Bobby Flay in Throwdown making chicken fried steak—I missed that one though…
It was a wonderful day!!

Dollywood in Pigeon Forge WAS Silver Dollar City in the 70's. Did the one in Bransom have the Inventors Mansion? That was changed into a Dolly Museum at Dollywood.
