On our way to Memphis, as we were passing through Leland, MS we saw a sign that said “Birthplace of Kermit the Frog”. Well, that we knew we would have to check out on our way back home!! It took a little while to find the museum (not that Leland is all that big—but we managed to get completely turned around—but we did in fact find it!)
We learned a lot about Jim Henson, the Muppets, Sesame Street, etc. Since coming home we have watched a few Jim Henson things on Netflix—The Dark Crystal and apparently there is a series that ran with history/mythological stories portrayed as only Jim Henson could do.
He is just as good looking in person, and every bit as nice :)
Mike was actually in the bathroom while we were posing it up. The woman who was manning the museum was super awesome! She took our pictures and gave us a guided tour of the museum, the collectibles room, and the gift shop! She is very knowledgeable and even came out to the car to meet Bella when we were done (yes, we left Bella in the car—but we left it running with the AC ON!!).
Lucy was even more impressed by this museum because she has started working in puppetry at church. She has been practicing her hand/mouth coordination and it was really cool to see how intricate these puppets are!
Did you know that Kermit’s tongue is a heart. Once she said that I can’t help but notice it now, but I never saw that before. It’s because Kermit speaks from the heart…
