Impromptu Field Trip

We had to go into Oneonta to get our license plates (we got our licenses a while ago, but it apparently to get copies of our titles from SC is not an easy task and took a while to do). With that done and Mike headed off to work it was just me and the girls in the middle of no where. We followed a sign we saw for Palisades Park. Not having any idea what to expect we were super excited to find out it is awesome :)

The views were magnificent! We walked around and enjoyed the history and imagining what it would have been like to live in the early 1800's. We then prayed and thank God that we live in a time when there is air conditioning!!! It was HOT out there!!! Thankfully most of the building and such were in the shade :)

See the butterfly? He was HUGE and beautiful!!

We loved the schoolhouse!! Our homeschool is based on the basic principles of the "one room schoolhouses" from early America so it's always fun to see how things were truly done back then. Unfortunately we could not go inside, but it still gives us an idea and mental picture to pull from :)

how cool. I love the old schoolhouses. That was the time when school was the way it should be. :)
