Birmingham, Alabama

Mike had an interview that lasted pretty much the all of daylight time on our first day in Birmingham, but the second day we were able to get out and check the place out some. We decided to go to see Vulcan---a statue representing the metal working that put Birmingham on the map long ago. The views from up here were gorgeous though and gave us an idea of just how BIG Birmingham truly is.

We enjoyed Birmingham and if that is where God would have us go, then I'm sure we will love it there... We shall see. I am late on getting these downloaded and we still don't have an offer. Today they called though and told Mike how interested they still are, that everyone has had real positive things to say about him and to let him know that because so many people are on vacation this week, they just can't get together to move farther with him this week---but that they would be in touch next week. That was very nice of them to do that, they certainly didn't need to say anything :)

We would be surprised if this does not result in an offer. It is interesting in that Mike never applied to them at all. They didn't have a job posted (or he certainly would have :) They found his resume online and contacted him and have been very interested in him the whole time. We also believe there is a good chance they will have the best offer---but we have to consider more than just initial offer---so we shall see, but we are believing we will have clarity when the time comes to make a decision. What a process this has been though.

Ultimately we would love to stay here in SC though. We love this area, our home and the life we have here. Mike applied for a job in Ashville today and we know that anything can change in a day---so we are still holding out some hope that we can stay, but we don't expect it at this point. We are getting ready to decorate, and are taking pictures of each room beforehand to give to the realtor as we suspect the house would go on the market during the Christmas season and we don't want the pictures dated with Christmas decorations. It's just a strange place to be right now :)
