Her children rise up and bless her... Pro. 31:28a (NASB)
Lucy is a deep thinker and she feels things deeply. I understand that as I too am that way. That can be a blessing and can very much be a curse. I pray for her a lot regarding this trait :) She is also very perceptive----her perception has amazed me at times!!
Yesterday, we were in the kitchen making dinner and being goofy. All of a sudden Lucy got serious and said "Mommy, I like this, it feels right and good." I said, "we do this all the time, what is different?" She said "I don't know." Then tonight we were in a store and she got serious again and said with tears in her eyes "I love you and our family so much!" I said "And we love you!" Then she said "Mommy, I feel so much peace inside of me." (I know, being a deep thinker and analyzer, that is not always easy to feel that peace and is something I pray for often for Lucy---so that was a huge praise report for me, but she had no way of knowing that :) I said "that is good." She said, "yes, it is good and I love the way my life feels."
I asked her how long she has been feeling like this and she said for a few weeks now she has been noticing a change inside. We thought about it and realized that we started back to church 3 weeks ago. We had been attending a couple of churches trying to determine where God would have us, and decided to take some time off while we worked on the attic. By the time the attic was done it was clear to us where God wanted us to be, and that is where we have gone back to. I believe she really missed that, and it was unsettling to her this past year as we have searched for the right church home. It is a blessing to all of us to know we are in the right place now---and God has confirmed that to us many times over now!
The other thing that changed 3 weeks ago is we started back to school. Lucy and I have had our struggles with school, and we do love it a lot, we also dislike it at times. I am always looking for ways to do school better. We have had a great time this year so far. Lucy loves school and loves to learn and she is very bright! We have struggled with reading, and she has come a long way lately with that, praise God!! One thing though that we always love about homeschooling is all the great time we have together sharing through all these different subjects. Lucy missed that over the "summer" break and it blessed me so much when she was eager and excited to start school again.
So, that little conversation we had in the middle of Burlington Coat Factory has blessed me so very much!! I pray that peace remains inside of Lucy and will continue to grow! I believe this was a breakthrough for Lucy in that she has had a revelation of peace. In that, is a revelation of joy. I thank God she is getting these revelations at 8 years of age, as opposed to being in her 30's :) So, this week in school we will be talking about the Fruit of the Spirit and we will be expectant and excited about further revelations in peace, joy and the rest of the fruits we are promised by God!!! :) How exciting is that?!!!!

Hi Stacey..this is Kelly Russell Welsh. Chris gave me your blog. I am so encouraged by you and what a blessing it was to read your post about Lucy. That is amazing to have such peace at an early age. I am sure that was such a joy to hear! That is something I should be praying for my children as well. Seems like you are loving life as a mom. My mom sends her love to you(she is not on email) , but I told her I would pass it on to you..Great to catch up with you after all these years..old neighbor!!
