Stitches

While i was cooking dinner Clara was playing in the hallway crawling. How she could be crawling to knocking a hole in her chin is beyond me, but she managed to do it. She yelled and I went to check on her and thought she was fine since there was no blood in her mouth and all her teeth were there :) Then I saw blood, and couldn't figure out where it was coming from until I had her look up and sure enough she had a nice gouge under her chin. I knew immediately it would need stitches :(

Mike was almost home, so we waited for him, dropped Lucy off at a neighbors house and visited the ER for the first time (and hopefully the LAST time :) Here we are in the waiting room.

Now we are back in the room. I gave Clara a bag of frozen pees to put on it and she did a good job of keeping it on there. I'm sure it felt better than not having it on there. When we walked in to the room here, before she would come in to sit down she had to know what everything was in there (it did look intimidating with all the gadgets all over the place). Bless her heart, once she got in she was pleased to see a tv with Chicken Run playing. That kept her mind off it for the most part.

Clara got happy and I was joking with her about her pretty bracelets. Then the dr. and nurses came in and it took 4 people to hold her down! They could not believe how strong she is!! Mike had to lay across her legs, one nurse was on one side, one of the other and the dr. at her head . Oh it was heartbreaking when she is screaming "Mommy, make them stop!" "Daddy, don't let them do it, I'm ok." When that wasn't working she started yelling for Lucy (who thankfully wasn't there as she would not have been able to deal with that), and then she even started yelling for Little Sheepy. Bless her heart! They had her wrapped up in a sheet to help secure her down too. I was pacing the room praying and trying to make eye contact with her to let her know we love her.
After the Novocaine shot kicked in the stitches part was going pretty good, UNTIL the dr. came up too far and Clara caught sight of it---oh the screaming that ensued after that was deafening. The dr. thought she could feel it and gave her another shot of Novocaine.

Finally, that ordeal is over---bless her heart! She wanted her sister, which was so heart warming how much she loves Lucy! Lucy was very concerned and her and Kaylee made cards for Clara and that meant so much to her. First thing the next morning one of the first things Clara said was "where are my cards they made for me?"
As soon as the ordeal was over, Clara got over it and wasn't traumatized afterwards, thank God! She is quite proud of her stitches now and loves that they are purple :) Lucy is very protective of her---while they were eating watermelon, Lucy noticed the stitches were getting wet and she made Clara stop eating, got paper towels and dabbed it dry and got her a fork to finish her watermelon with. It was so sweet!!
