On Sarari

I sat with Clara on the safari ride and she was next to the open side so she had a great view of these animals!!! A little too close at times :) Lucy was on the other side of the bus sitting with a friend, but we compared notes afterwards and she too got VERY close :)
They tell you to be careful of the horns. You can't grab them or the animal will feel threatened and think you want to fight. I would NOT want to mislead any of these HUGE animals, so we stayed clear of the horns (for a lot of reasons). I was hanging out the window feeding one animal and I got whacked by these very horns above and let me tell you OUCH!!! It wasn't a jab, just a knock by accident but it gave me more of an appreciation of what it may feel like if they MEANT it!!! No thank you!!!
These big massive animals were very gentle and would take the food right from your hand. You can even pet their tongues which are rough. Slobbery, gross and rough :)

This Emu was hilarious!!! We were warned that they have very tiny brains and not great eyesight. They have very hard beaks too so when they whack at your hand to get the bread it feels like being hit with a hammer, so they say just to put the bread on the ledge and let the birds get it from there. Well, they are also NOT patient!! Clara couldn't rip her bread fast enough and this fellow kept trying to get it out of her hand and she would jump back and yell at it. Oh, I was laughing so hard I am surprised I was able to get any pictures at all!! When the bus would drive to the next part the Emus run along side of it and it is very impressive to watch---they are FAST!

Well, hello there!! This is definitely the closest I have ever been to a Bison :)

Clara remembered coming here for the Christmas lights, and for that you stop and feed the animals (they don't have the really big guys out for that), but Clara definitely remembered the Zdonk (or Zonkey---we heard both). when he came up to get some bread Clara got excited and kept yelling "I know you!" Too cute!!!

We took Mike's family to the Greenville Zoo, but I really wish we had known more about Hollywild because this would have been super to go to with them!! Next time!! This place is closer to us and we LOVED it!!! We can't wait to go back again :)
