The Long Anticipated Play Date Arrived!!

We had a wonderful visit from my friend Kathy and her family today. Clara has been so anticipating playing with her "big friend" again and it was well worth the wait :) Since Clara thought she was going to see him the other day when another boy was named Ben, I had to tell her that we were going to see them on Friday to calm her down (that was on Tuesday). I usually don't tell them in advance of such things becuase then that is all you hear about. Sure enough, for days, all I kept hearing is "is today the day?" "Is Big Friend coming today." "Is it now?"

The girls love all three of their boys and they all have a really good time together which is such a blessing! It was so nice to have adult time too with another couple.

I told Clara it would be nice to use her friends actual name so then she began calling him "Big Friend Ben". It was very cute! Lucy loves the fact that she too can play with Big Friend Ben, and also has a friend one year older and one year younger to play with! It doesn't get much better than that :)

Not only did they get to play with friends, but they got to go to the pool and ride in the back of a truck there. The girls thought that was the greatest thing! They have so wanted to ride in the back of a truck and this was their first time.

Since Kathy and John only have boys and we only have girls it is fun to see some differences, and ways they are not so different. For instance, they learned that girls can be very loud and proud about their bodily functions. They do say "excuse me" but not nearly as loud as the actual act they are excusing :) I think it is hilarious to hear boy peeing stories since we have not exerienced that first hand. Mike finally gets to chime in with "hey I used to do that too." The poor man is so outnumbered :)

Daddy cooked out and it was very good! I still am lacking in my hostessing, but they were all very gracious and kind as they had to remind me about things like forks, the rest of the food we had and where to sit :)

We had a wonderful visit, great conversation and an overall great night!! We look forward to it again! Kathy said when they got in the truck to go home Matthew said "Mom, this was my best day ever." How sweet is that?!! He got hurt while he was here too, so that really says a lot---he is ok though, but pray for his wrist to heal, it may be sprained. Bless his heart!

Speaking of prayer, I have a prayer request for me--I have agreed to teach the K4-K5 class at our co-op this year and Kathy brought me the curriculum and all the fun stuff that goes along with that today and I am feeling a bit out of my element. I know if God calls you to it, He will see you through it and I am holding on to that with both hands here :) Another lesson in "be careful what you pray for" I had been talking to God about how I am unsure how to start school with Clara and asking for guidance. Lucy was in school at that age, so I passed this part of it. Well, He is answering that prayer, just in a different way then I had anticipated :) He does indeed have a sense of humor :)

Kathy, John, Big Friend Ben, Brandon and Matthew---thank you for coming to our house today, we very much enjoyed it and look forward to it again :) I know the girls enjoyed it and are now sleeping HARD!!! No argument from them at bed time tonight :)
