We got to go on a field trip the other day thanks to a friend of ours that had special access to a reserve that is not open to the public. It was quite a drive to get out there—but it was so worth it!
There was an observation tower that beavers had taken quite a liking to. They had been gnawing on the stairs, the posts—everything! They had to be thinking they found quite a gem out there in the middle of nowhere :)
It was absolutely beautiful from up here! We were specifically looking for bald eagles. When we were pulling into the reserve we saw a big bald eagle flying by us, but I didn’t get my phone out fast enough to snap a shot. It was fairly close to where we were and we got to see the wing span! Very majestic!
It was awesome just roaming around this wide open space. I don’t have a picture—my friend got one and I think there may be one of Lucy’s camera—but we found gator tracks and the footprint was at least 12 inches!! It was mammoth!!
Very hard to see in the shot—but there are 3 bald eagles flying there! They were swooping down and getting fish out of the water. It was quite awesome. They nest in the top of the cypress trees not too far away from where we were.
It was a great day exploring nature and hanging out with some really awesome people!! :)
